The Missionshaus Malche e.V. Association (also referred to as “the Malche”) was established in 1898. For 113 years, women – and from 1989 also men – came here to train in the areas of theology and pedagogics and to prepare for their work as preachers for the protestant church in Germany and around the world. Theological training is nowadays provided by the Malche facility in Porta Westfalica.

Malche is also the name of a place. It refers to a valley between the Oderbruch region and the hilly Barnim area, whose central area is a park-like garden with old fruit trees and flowers. A church and six residential buildings and guest houses are arranged around the garden.

The Malche has always been a supportive community. Spiritual offerings, shared meals and mutual support in everyday life have been essential aspects ever since the facility was first established. Guests are always very welcome! Tours are also available.

The Malche is close to the cosmopolitan city Berlin, which is reached in about an hour by car or train.

How to get there:
  • By train from the direction of Berlin: RE3 / RE24 to Eberswalde, from here continue on the RB60
  • By car from the direction of Berlin: Head north on the B158.
  • By car from the direction of Hamburg: A24 towards Berlin, northern motorway ring Berlin, exit Berlin-Hohenschönhausen. From here take the B158. The Malche is located between Bad Freienwalde and Falkenberg/Mark, directly on the B167.

The Malche consists of

  • The sisters and brothers, the members of the Malche e.V. Association, and a wide circle of people who feel they are part of the Malche
  • Diverse accommodation and conference operations
  • Residential options on the premises, including with support services (assisted living)

The Malche premises are right next to the Tower and Fontane Hiking Trails. Germany’s biggest ship lifting facility is located in the next town over. A “Tower Diploma” can be obtained in the local area (after climbing to the top of four towers), and there are also various bathing lakes within a radius of about five kilometres. Bad Freienwalde is a state-approved moor spa town. Visitors can enjoy various highlights, and interesting events for the whole family take place all year round: Cycling on the Oder-Neiße Cycle Path, boat trips on the river Oder, day trips to the green neighbour Poland, Chorin Monastery. Berlin is also just 60 kilometres away.
