The train station is an important symbolic place for Küstrin-Kietz. He is associated with numerous life stories and professional biographies. Until 1990, over 250 people worked at the former GDR border station. Much of what was reminiscent of it has now disappeared. The rooms in the train station used by the NEB were empty for a long time. Today the picture is dominated by Polish commuters and, in the summer months, day trippers and cyclists.

The Kietz-Bahnhof/Dworzec Chyza e.V. association has set itself the goal of breathing new life into the station. With the support of the NEB and with the help of funding, a place of culture and remembrance has now been created for the people of Kietz and the growing number of people who have discovered the Oderbruch for themselves. With a café, exhibition and event rooms and a small history library, the station building is open to the public again on weekends from April to October.

As the name suggests, it is a German-Polish association that promotes communication across the nearby border. The eventful post-war history of the region, a differentiated examination of the GDR and the profound change after 1990 are the focus of the projects.
