At the Museum Fürstenwalde, there are exhibitions about pre and early history in the region, about the history of the 700-year-old town Fürstenwalde, information about town development, trading in medieval times and about the bishop’s seat Fürstenwalde. The Gerhard Goßmann Gallery provides for an insight into the work of the graphic artist and painter from Fürstenwalde, who became famous for his book illustrations, in particular. The museum also presents more than 150 years of industrial history in Fürstenwalde with exhibits including a real lighthouse that was built here in 1909. The Museum Fürstenwalde is also home to one of Europe’s biggest collections of boulders. Walter Bennhold’s collection can be admired in a show magazine. A rock garden has been created in the town park at the cathedral, just outside the museum. The garden was designed based on geological and educational criteria. The Ice Age flyer about the collection of boulders is available on the website of the Fürstenwalde town museum.

The role of the town as a former beer capital is presented in a show in the nearby Ratskeller. We highly recommend trying today’s ‘Fürstenwalder Bier’ that is produced by the private brewery that is based in the same cellar.
