The music museum in Beeskow will introduce visitors to a very special aspect of the world of music: self-playing musical instruments. The heyday of these instruments was the time between the late 19th century and 1930, before they were outpaced by modern entertainment technology. They used to play an important part in forming the musical atmosphere in homes, streets, cafés and dance halls. In the permanent exhibition, visitors can see various impressive mechanical instruments including reproducing pianos that play recordings of famous pianists from paper rolls, as well as smaller surprising items featuring photo albums or toilet paper rolls.
