In the permanent exhibition, visitors will learn about interesting events in the early days of the town Fürstenberg (Oder), about traditional trades (basket and glass making and shipping) and the industrial development in the 19th and 20th century.

The museum was established in 1980 and it comprises the following sections: town history, gallery and art collection and the fire fighting and technology museum. The exhibits and interesting stories give visitors a comprehensive insight into the development of the town Fürstenberg (Oder) and its traditional trades. There are also exhibition modules about the history of the glass-making industry in Fürstenberg (Oder) and about Brandenburg’s second biggest prisoner-of-war camp ‘STALAG III B’. The greatest part of the exhibition space is dedicated to the history of the new town that was called Stalinstadt from 1953 and Eisenhüttenstadt from 1961.

Additionally open on every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month (1-5 p.m.).
