Since its foundation, the town of Rüdersdorf has been dominated by the mining of limestone, which is a rare mineral in this region. It is still mined today in the immediate vicinity of the museum park. The Rüderdorf museum park takes its visitors on a tour of the preserved industrial monuments related to limestone mining and processing.

The tourist information centre provides information about activities and events in the museum park as well as about the region's cultural news and sights. The tourist information centre also offers a rental service for go-karts, handcarts, e-bikes, bicycles and canoes. The museum park provides wheelchairs and an electric vehicle for its disabled visitors.
