The Protestant parish church of Peitz was built according to plans drawn up by architect Friedrich August Stüler and consecrated in 1860. Its striking features are its Northern Italian round-arched style, a three-part partitioning of the windows and the use of yellow and red bricks. The model for the church was St. Matthäus-Kirche am Kunstforum in Berlin. Other churches in Bütow (now Bytow) and Neudamm (now Debno) were built according to this model.

In the 1970s, the church in Peitz became so badly infested with dry rot that it had to be closed. From 1975-79 it was extensively renovated and the entire interior was redesigned. On entering the church one is struck by the combination of historical installations – such as the picture of the Holy Communion, a copy modelled on Leonardo da Vinci from 1656 – and new elements such as the organ and the glass inserts in the gallery. The parish rooms are also located under the gallery, reflecting an interesting mixture of church space with the daily life of the congregation.

The church is open to visitors during the opening hours of the parish office (Tuesdays 9 a.m. to 12:30 pm and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) Guests are also invited to attend the various church music events.
