The Memorial Tour takes in Jamlitz and its surrounding area and is one of the most beautiful eight circular hiking trails around Lieberose. But in addition to the beautiful landscape, this tour also touches on a dark chapter in history: the route leads through the former secondary facility of Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Dealing with this period of history there is an open-air exhibition as a memorial to the victims.

This tour also including the neighbouring village of Jamlitz. The trail centres on the former grounds of a secondary camp of Sachsenhausen concentration camp which was built in 1943/44. The prisoners had to build the facilities the Kurmark SS military training area under the motto “Extermination through hard labour”. These barracks were used as a concentration camp, an SS penal camp, a refugee camp and then an internment camp. There is now an open-air exhibition at this site.

A little off the way is the forest cemetery that belonged to the internment camp, as well as the former station building, where prisoners once arrived on the Frankfurt/Oder-Cottbus line. There is a scenic path to Blasdorf along the former Kleinbahndamm to the north of Jamlitz.
