Which creature lives in one of the most precious moorlands in Germany, the alkaline Braunmoosmoor Möllensee? This nature trail leads through varied landscapes, past still waters and wetlands – the habitat of the crane. This also includes the border area of the former Lieberose military training ground – terrain that was hardly touched by human hand for many decades. The Crane Path is near the Stiftung Naturlandschaften Brandenburg Wilderness Trail.

This nature trail is one of a total of six circular paths that follow the Ludwig Leichhardt Trail in loops. All of them together form the Ludwig Leichhardt Nature Trail, covering a total length of some 32 kilometres. This makes it one of the longest nature trails in Germany. Each path is dedicated to a selected aspect of the impressive and varied natural landscapes between Goyatz and Butzen.

Length: 9 kilometres

Start/finish: Car park on the L44 between Lamsfeld and Butzen

Marking: crane symbol

Directions: By car or bicycle

Route description/points of interest/background information: The path begins at the southern end of the Lake Großer Mochowsee. It passes Lake Möllnsee and Hetzmannteich as far as the northern shore of Lake Zistesee and from there goes back to Lake Großer Mochowsee.

Possible combinations:
  • Wilderness Trail
  • Ludwig Leichhardt Trail
  • Otter Path
