The 27 metres tall Bismarck tower on the castle hill near Burg is the landmark of the health resort and a popular destination for a day out. From the top of the tower, visitors can enjoy unparalleled views of Spreewald Forest. The tower was built between 1915 and 1917, using 1.5 million bricks. It is one of originally eleven Bismarck towers that were built in Brandenburg. Only eight towers exist to this day.

The tower’s particular charm is characterised by its location on the castle hill, which was part of an early Christian fortress. Unusual events with fascinating light shows such as ‘Spreewälder Sagennacht’ (‘Spreewald myths night’) or ‘Nacht der Kürbisgeister’ (‘pumpkin ghosts’ night’) take place here.

The tower is open from April to November.
