The wooden observation tower on the hill Wehlaberg is 28 metres tall and offers wide views over the Krausnicker Berge range and the Heidesee lakes to the north. The Tropical Islands building is located to the west. On clear days, the television tower in Berlin can be seen in northerly direction.
The hill Wehlaberg is located in the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve. It is 144.1 metres tall and the highest point of the Krausnicker Berge range. To the north of the hill, there is the village Köthen with its lake Köthener See, and to the south there is the village Krausnick that marks the edge of Spreewald Forest.
