Visitors to the exhibitions learn about the post-mining landscape that is, for example, an internationally important resting place for cranes. In addition to alternating exhibitions of nature photography, there is an exhibition about the eventful life of the wildlife film-maker Heinz Sielmann.

‘Vanished places’ bring the past back to life. A multi-media presentation allows visitors to dive into the world of bats, and interactive games allow an insight into various habitats of native animal species. Further places to explore include the boulder garden, the adventure pond and the educational bee trail. A real highlight is the arrival of thousands of cranes to their resting places during autumn migration. Various events are held on this occasion.
