They planted more than 100 types of trees and shrubs, including a gingko tree, created a wet biotope and settled a bee colony. Displays provide information about the biotopes and the plants and animals living in Dübener Heide Nature Park.

Today the Naturlehrgarten is a popular meeting spot for locals and guests unwinding at Lake Bergwitzsee. The wood oven is fired up and crunchy bread is served at events like the Easter family afternoon ‘Introducing traditional, natural craftsmanship’ and the mushroom exhibition every October 3. Visitors are also welcome to sign up for tours. Cyclists along the R1 like to use the Naturlehrgarten for a picnic break in the green landscape and to observe animals.
