The Großer Lychensee lake is one of the seven lakes that make up the Lychen Seenkreuz lake district near Lychen.  The lake is part of the Uckermark lakeland and lies within the Uckermark Lakes nature park. If contains a wide variety of plants and fishes.

Main types of fish: Pike, zander, eel, perch, carp, catfish, trout and tench

Fishing authority: Uckermark Fisch GmbH

Tip: Fishing permits can be purchased from the fishing authority or the Tourist Information Centre.

Closed seasons:  Pike: not in February or March

                         Zander: not in April or May

                         Catfish: not in May or June
