The age of the Dominican monks has long passed in Prenzlau. But history, art and culture have kept their foothold within the walls of the monastery. Lavishly restored in the 1990s, the sacral building is now one of the most well-preserved medieval monastery complexes in North-East Germany. The cloisters and the refectory, the monks’ former guest dining hall, the sacristy and the women’s chapel are particularly eye-catching and invite visitors to let their imaginations run wild and dare to take a journey into history.

As a place of relaxation and contemplation, the monastery garden includes a meadow orchard (apples, plums, pears) divided into four parts with a traditional cross pathway. Culinary and medicinal herbs (thyme, woodruff, lemon balm, horseradish, chives, sage, garlic, gypsophilia, carrots), flowers (carnations, asters, daisies, aquelegia, day lilies, irises, delphiniums, coreopsis, Christmas rose, calendula) and berries (redcurrants, blueberries and wild strawberries) are grown here.

The monastery garden and circular trail at the monastery complex are always open to visitors. After completing the circular trail, you can enjoy coffee and cakes at the KlosterCafé.
