The eighth stage of the Märkisch Overland Trail covers from Stolpe an der Oder to Schwedt (Oder) The tour runs along the edge of the slope of the Oder plain through the Lower Oder Valley National Park. Visits to the castle grounds and the National Park Centre in Criewen are worth the while, before walking on through the forest and meadow landscape of the Uckermark, all the way to Schwedt (Oder).

How to get there: Take the RE3 or RE66 from Berlin central station (Hauptbahnhof) to Angermünde. From here take bus no. 456 (Angermünde) to Stolpe (about 1.5 hours).

Return journey: Take the RE3 (Lutherstadt Wittenberg) from Schwedt to Berlin central station (Hauptbahnhof) (about 1.5 hours).

Route: Stolpe, Stützkow, Criewen, Meyenburg, Schwedt

  • Criewen: Lenné Park, National Park Centre in Criewen in the Lower Oder Valley National Park
