In the heart of the beautifully restored historic town centre, the impressive Franciscan monastery church, which is over 700 years old, opens its doors to the public from May to October. The monastery church is the only surviving building of the former impressive monastery complex and provides a fascinating insight into the architecture of earlier times. The brick rood screen and the asymmetrical double-nave hall design are unusual features for monastery churches in Brandenburg. Today, the monastery church is famous far beyond the borders of Uckermark as a site of cultural interest and a significant example of the North German Gothic style adopted by the mendicant monks.

From May to September, the church and the square in front of it are transformed into a stage for music and theatre. The "Angermünder Klostersommer“ summer festival offers a wide-ranging programme of events, guided theatre tours such as the spine-chilling “Heretics Tour” in the evening, “Maids, Might and Religious Disputes”, “Angermünde through the Ages”, summer theatre, music and art of all types.#
