Around 1822, Otto von Armin, the then owner of the manor had a landscape park created on the site of the old village. He commissioned none other than Prussian landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné to redesign the terrain adjacent to the River Oder.

Lenné included the church and the patronage cemetery in his design. In addition to winding paths, ponds and bridges, all the typical elements of an English landscape park are to be found here. Visual axes connect the two mansions with each other as well as offering a view of the distant hillcrests on the edge of the Oder valley. Indigenous trees can be seen, along with yews, lime trees, black pines and marsh cypresses.

Von Arnim’s former manor house – Schloss Criewen – was recently renovated and now houses the Brandenburgische Akademie Schloss Criewen.
