The lock in Templin is located on the Templiner Gewässer waterway, and it is part of Obere Havel-Wasserstraße It was built in 1894/95. There is a bridge across the structure. Following comprehensive refurbishment, the lock was taken back into operation in 2005. The lock runs on a self-service basis and operates automatically. The authority responsible is the Eberswalde Waterway and Shipping Office.
