Fürstenwerder is located in Uckermark in the north-western corner of the state of Brandenburg near the border to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The small town is situated in a diverse end-moraine landscape nestled between two picturesque lakes with rugged shores, islands and holmes. It was first mentioned in a historical document in 1319 and had town rights until 1817. Its most striking features are the two parts of the old town wall with its two medieval gates and the granite church. The local museum offers insights into everyday life in former times.
