Technology that inspires - Niederfinow boat lifts

The boat lifts are one of Brandenburg's technical attractions. This is where the 36 metre difference in height between the Oder-Havel Canal and the Havel-Oder waterway is bridged. This makes the boat lifts an important part of the waterway connection between Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Klaipeda (Lithuania). Once there, it is impressive to experience the lifting (or lowering) of the ships. The Niederfinow boat lifts are accessible via a ramp. Allow 4 hours for the visit, including a guided tour and snack.

The area surrounding the Niederfinow boat lift is full of exciting nature experiences. Whether by bike along the Oder-Havel Canal, by boat through old waterways or on foot through the densely wooded Schorfheide - the area around the boat lift is a nature experience. Gentle hills, wide meadows and crystal-clear lakes invite you to relax and explore. The Barnimer Land region is the green lung at the gates of Berlin.
