The boat lifts are one of Brandenburg's technical attractions. This is where the 36 metre difference in height between the Oder-Havel Canal and the Havel-Oder waterway is bridged. This makes the boat lifts an important part of the waterway connection between Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Klaipeda (Lithuania).
