Chorin Music Summer Classical music in between old monastery walls

The atmosphere is simply amazing. Surrounded by old monastery walls and twittering birds, thousands of guests come together each year between June and August. Music lovers chill out on blankets or relax in camping chairs while enjoying savoury snacks and drinks on the green lawn inside the monastery walls. The Chorin Monastery in Barnimer Land draws visitors from all places to listen to the sounds of classical music. The Cistercian monastery’s ruins form the scenic backdrop for the Chorin music festival.

The festival features top-class concerts with a focus on classical music. Each year, grand orchestras from Berlin and Brandenburg, as well as international artists gather in the heart of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve to present their exclusive repertoire which has acquired a reputation among music connoisseurs in the past. Finally, in East Germany, the Chorin music festival is counted among the classical festivals steeped in tradition. Founded in 1968, it has been attracting an ever greater audience over the years which keeps coming back to enjoy the concerts. Thanks to its fascinating architecture and scenic surroundings, the location has become an extraordinary stage for cultural entertainment and a popular destination in the last decades.
