The eighth stage of Tour Brandenburg extends 46 kilometres from Templin to Chorin. The tour takes your through the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve with its many lakes and woods. You reach Joachimsthal am Werbellinsee and Lake Grimnitzsee via Friedrichswerder. Then you reach the famous monastery of Chrorin via Senftenhütte.

How to get there: RB12 from Berlin-Lichtenberg (about 1.5 hours)

Return journey: From Chorin, take the RE3 to Berlin central station (about 1 hour).

Route: Templin, Gollin, Friedrichswalde, Joachimsthal, Grimnitz, Alhüttendorf, Senftenhütte, Chorin

Sights:
  • Templin: Maria-Magdaleen church, town history museum, St.George -chapel, lido
  • Joachimsthal: Sculpture garden at the town hall, town church
  • Grimnitz: Castle ruins, lido, BIORAMA Project viewing platform
  • Althüttendorf: Nature observation point
  • Chorin: Village church, Cistercian monastery

Possible combinations:

  • Uckermark Circular Cycle Route
  • Charming Tour of the Southern Uckermark
  • Uckermark for Advanced Cyclists
  • “Stone Trail” Cycle Path
  • Around Lake Grimnitzsee
  • Forests, Water and an Enormous Lift

Trail conditions/surface: The tour consists of largely well-maintained and mostly asphalted cycle paths. Large sections of the “Tour Brandenburg” have already been upgraded and are signposted to make it easy to cycle without any restrictions.
Please note: This stage of the tour, once you have passed Lake Grimnitzsee and Althüttendorf, you will cycle along the B 198 for about 1 kilometre. Please take special care along the road. A cycle path next to a road is currently being planned.
