A 2-day workshop ‘From raw wool to yarn’ is hosted on set dates, but individual appointments are also possible on request.

‘From raw wool to yarn’ – Rediscovering old textile handicraft.

Participants in the workshops handle raw wool from local sheep and alpacas, fresh from the animal all the way to knit-ready yarn for personal use. The workshops take place across two days (4 hours each) and cover the following stages in wool processing:
  • wool/breed, understanding typical characteristics
  • first cleaning of the raw wool by hand, sorting and arranging
  • washing, cleaning and drying the wool
  • carding and combing the cleaned wool, producing combed tops and fleece
  • spinning and plying using a manual spindle and a spinning wheel

The course takes place with a maximum of five participants and starting from at least three registrations, though of course exceptions can be made.
