On the site of today's St. George’s Church there was previously a wooden chapel. The chapel was demolished in 1692 due to its dilapidated state. St. George's Church was built on the demolition site in 1696 as a half-timbered building and typical 17th century “sermon church”. After extensive renovation work, St. George’s Church was inaugurated in 1986 as a concert hall; the organ, built by the famous organ building company Sauer, was inaugurated in 1988. Today it serves as a venue for concerts and exhibitions.

The cultural association Oberbarnimer Kulturverein e.V. organises chamber and organ concerts, lied and chanson evenings as well as operetta and musical events at the concert hall. Cabaret, foyer discussions, readings and exhibitions are also held here. A half-timbered building with a tower built in 1698, the concert hall can be visited daily except Fridays.
